Course Overview

The Certificate in Communicative English is a specialized program designed for individuals for whom English is an additional language and who require essential language skills to facilitate effective communication and engagement in day-to-day activities. This course covers key areas of language development, including basic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Students will learn to comprehend spoken language, master pronunciation, respond to English language texts, and compose written texts for effective language use. Additionally, this course enables students to confidently use English for discussing numbers, quantities, and basic calculations. By the end of this course, students will be better equipped to navigate daily interactions with increased language proficiency and confidence.

Course Progress

The program is designed to accommodate people of all levels. Course progress is evaluated on a weekly basis, to ensure accurate placement and continual development.

Step 01

Orientation

Students attend Orientation and their English level is evaluated based on the English Placement Test and/or previous qualifications attained.

Step 02

Attend

Students attend classes and participate in weekly tests and activities to measure their progress.

Step 03

Certificate

Students receive a certificate at the end of the program, detailing their core skill levels.

Delivery Approach

At Lonsdale Institute we employ an immersive and interactive delivery approach. Students engage in daily class activities, weekly testing, and monthly city excursions, fostering a well-rounded language learning experience. Our teachers create a supportive and engaging environment that empowers students to develop their English skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the local culture.

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years or older. 
  • Students will be required to complete an assessment test to ascertain their English level.
  • There are no academic entry requirements.

The Communicative English program serves as a foundation for students to transition into a range of esteemed vocational courses offered at Lonsdale Institute. These include Workplace Skills and Business.
