Course Overview

The Certificate in Communicative English equips you with the essential language skills needed to thrive in everyday situations. Through a practical curriculum focused on reading, writing, listening, and speaking, you'll gain the confidence to communicate effectively in English.

You'll graduate able to understand spoken language, master pronunciation, respond to written texts, and compose your own written communication with clarity and precision. You'll also be able to confidently use English for discussing numbers, quantities, and basic calculations, making daily interactions easier and more enjoyable. This program empowers you to navigate everyday life with increased language proficiency and confidence.

Entry Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years or older. 
  • Students will be required to complete an assessment test to ascertain their English level.
  • There are no academic entry requirements.

The Communicative English program serves as a foundation for students to transition into a range of esteemed vocational courses offered at Lonsdale Institute. These include Workplace Skills and Business.

Qualification Description

The course requires a student to complete 7 units to gain the nationally recognised 11116NAT Certificate I in Communicative English.

NAT11116001 Develop and use basic reading skills

NAT11116002 Develop and use basic writing skills

NAT11116003 Develop and use basic listening skills

NAT11116004 Develop and use basic speaking skills

NAT11116005 Apply grammar skills in spoken and written communication

NAT11116006 Use pronunciation skills to assist communication

NAT11116007 Apply language skills for numeracy

Elective Units

Course Progress

The program is designed to accommodate people of all levels. Course progress is evaluated on a weekly basis, to ensure accurate placement and continual development.

Step 01

Orientation

Students attend Orientation and their English level is evaluated based on the English Placement Test and/or previous qualifications attained.

Step 02

Attend

Students attend classes and participate in weekly tests and activities to measure their progress.

Step 03

Certificate

Students receive a certificate at the end of the program, detailing their core skill levels.
